When it comes to custom drone parts, the right material makes a big difference in performance, durability, and weight. Here at PrintLab SA, we’ve tested several filaments across many use cases. Here’s what we recommend:
🔵 PLA – Good for Prototypes
PLA is the easiest to print and ideal for test fits, mockups, or static mounts. However, it’s brittle and not suited for impact zones like landing gear or guards.
🟠 PETG – Best Overall Balance
PETG offers an excellent mix of strength, flexibility, and UV/weather resistance. We use it often for:
- Propeller guards
- Battery holders
- Frame reinforcements
It’s also less likely to shatter on hard landings.
⚫ TPU – For Flex and Vibration Damping
TPU is a flexible filament perfect for:
- Camera shock mounts
- Skids and bumpers
- Soft clips or wraps
It’s tough to print, but well worth it for impact-prone components.
✅ Conclusion
If you’re unsure which filament to use, send us your use case and we’ll guide you. We print drone parts in the right material for the right job.
